This term’s Community Fund grant awards reflect diverse artistic genres, disciplines, and audiences. Various projects and programs center on subjects such as theater, folklorico dance, music, visual art, puppeteering, children’s literature, and regular local monthly arts programming. We are honored to support projects led by local artists and organizations serving our community.

These programs support ACNV’s vision of enriching our community through arts and culture by expanding access, fostering engagement, and creating relevant opportunities for locals. Since the inception of the Community Fund, ACNV has provided more than $350,000 to artists and small non-profit organizations so that local work may grow and deepen the impact of arts and culture for all in the Napa County community.

SUMMER STAGED READING 2026 & “NIGHT MUST FALL” BY EMLYN WILLIAMS

Valley Players

Summer Staged Reading 2026

A total of ten selected plays by nine different playwrights are read on-stage by groups of three readers per play. This year’s themes include family discordance complicated by maternal alcoholism; loneliness and grief; and challenges of women in science and academia. Post-performance discussions offer playwrights direct audience feedback, creating a rare opportunity for audience exchange.

“Night Must Fall” by Emlyn Williams

A 1935 psychological thriller by Emlyn Williams about a young man named Dan. He is a charming yet sinister figure who insinuates himself into the home of an elderly, hypochondriacal woman, Mrs. Bramson, and her niece, Olivia, amidst a local murder investigation. This leads to suspense and horror as his true psychopathic nature is revealed. And it reflects today’s society in addressing elder abuse, fraud, and gaslighting. The latter is highlighted by Olivia’s questioning her own understanding of the actions and motives of Dan.
