Andres Agustin Barrera
Co-Founder | Artistic Director
Andrés (he/him/él) is a Latino stage director, dramatist, and artistic director and co-founder of Teatro Alebrijes del Valle. While studying at Napa Valley College, Andrés served as an assistant director on several productions, including the 2024 Arty Award-winning musical production of Spring Awakening and a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It by Shaina Taub and Laurie Woolery.
He has also worked with Shakespeare Napa Valley as an assistant director for a site-integrated production of Twelfth Night, presented at the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art in September 2024.
In early 2025, he was featured as an emerging theatre maker at Napa Valley College’s Emergence Festival of New Works, where he directed a contemporary staging of Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story. He has also directed his own original work, most notably Moises and Ella, a short play that opened the 2024 festival.
Through Teatro Alebrijes del Valle, Andrés wrote and directed staged readings, most notably Enemigo del Pueblo, a riveting and timely Spanish-language reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s 1882 classic political drama starring local Napa artists and community members. The reading premiered at Napa Bookmine in June 2025.
He serves on the board of directors for Arts Council Napa Valley and is a 2025/26 Directing Apprentice with PlayGround-LA. He is currently a student at UCLA.
An advocate for accessibility and language diversity in theatre, he hopes to inspire new generations of theatre makers to bring the performing arts to parks, bookstores, town plazas, schools, coffeehouses, libraries, and shared gathering spaces.
Giovanny Perez
Co-Founder | Artistic Director
Giovanny Perez (he/him/el) is an actor and co-founder and artistic director of Teatro Alebrijes del Valle. Giovanny has been seen in several productions at Napa Valley College’s Performing Arts Center, including in the Arty-award winning production of Spring Awakening as Otto Lammermeier, Tinman in The Wizard of Oz, Jerry in Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story, and as Oliver in the musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It. A Napa Valley College Theatre Arts graduate, he will be transferring to UC Berkeley starting in Fall 2025.
Vircel Junco
Co-Founder | Artistic Director
Vircel June (they/them/elle) is a queer actor and writer, and co-founder and artistic director of Teatro Alebrijes Del Valle.
Since joining Napa Valley College’s theater community, June has actively been involved in being a part of the theater magic. June has acted in Shakespeare Napa Valley’s production of Twelfth Night as a handmaiden, Peter in The Zoo Story by Edward Albee, and as Bronco’s Agent in As You Like It, a Shakespeare musical adaptation.
Alongside acting, June enjoys writing poetry and developing their original plays. June debuted their spoken word piece, Back of House, at Napa Valley College’s 2025 Emergence Festival of New Works. June continues to expand and explore the world of theater to find their true goal, expression through the arts.
